Ingredients

• Sugar - 2 cups
• Light Corn Syrup - 1 cup
• Water - 1 cup
• Unsalted Butter - 2 tablespoons
• Salt - ¼ teaspoon
• Vanilla Extract - 1 teaspoon
• Food Coloring - as desired

Instructions

   Grease a baking sheet with butter or oil and set aside.

   In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, butter, and salt.

   Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves.

   Attach a candy thermometer to the pan and continue cooking without stirring until the mixture reaches 260°F (127°C).

   Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and food coloring, if using.

   Pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and let it cool until you can handle it comfortably.

   Once cool enough, pull the taffy by stretching and folding it repeatedly until it becomes light and glossy.

   Roll into ropes and cut into bite-sized pieces.

   Wrap each piece in wax paper to prevent sticking.
