Ingredients

• Fresh strawberries - 2 cups, hulled and sliced
• Granulated sugar - 1 cup
• Heavy cream - 2 cups
• Whole milk - 1 cup
• Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
• Salt - ¼ teaspoon

Instructions

   Place the sliced strawberries in a bowl and sprinkle with 1/2 cup of sugar. Stir to combine and let sit for 15 minutes.

   Mash the strawberries to release their juices and set aside.

   In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining sugar, heavy cream, milk, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar is dissolved.

   Add the mashed strawberries and their juice to the cream mixture and stir well.

   Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions.

   Transfer the ice cream to a lidded container and freeze for at least 2 hours before serving.
