Ingredients

• All-purpose flour - 4 cups
• Granulated sugar - ½ cup
• Active dry yeast - 2 ¼ teaspoons
• Whole milk - 1 cup
• Unsalted butter - ¼ cup
• Eggs - 2 large
• Salt - 1 teaspoon
• Vegetable oil - for frying
• Powdered sugar - 2 cups
• Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
• Water - ¼ cup

Instructions

   In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

   In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.

   Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

   Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm area for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

   Roll out the dough to 1/2 inch thickness and cut out donut shapes using a donut cutter.

   Let the cut donuts rest for 30 minutes to rise again.

   Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).

   Fry the donuts in batches for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

   In a separate bowl, mix powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and water to make the glaze.

    Dip the warm donuts into the glaze, allowing excess to drip off.

    Place the glazed donuts on a wire rack to set and serve warm.
