Ingredients

• Pie crust - 1 (9-inch) pre-baked
• Unsalted butter - 1 cup
• Granulated sugar - 1 cup
• Semi-sweet chocolate - 4 ounces
• Vanilla extract - 2 teaspoons
• Eggs - 4 large
• Heavy whipping cream - 1 cup
• Powdered sugar - 2 tablespoons
• Chocolate shavings - for garnish

Instructions

   Melt the chocolate in a microwave or double boiler and let it cool slightly.

   In a large bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

   Add the melted chocolate and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and blend well.

   Add the eggs one at a time, beating for 5 minutes on medium speed after each addition.

   Pour the chocolate filling into the pre-baked pie crust and spread evenly.

   Chill the pie in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or until set.

   In a medium bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.

   Spread the whipped cream over the chilled pie.

   Garnish with chocolate shavings before serving.
